Rangers' Star Defenseman & Goalie Injured

The New York Rangers are contending with significant setbacks as key players Adam Fox and Igor Shesterkin are both sidelined due to lower-body injuries. Defenseman Adam Fox has been placed on long-term injured reserve, mandating a minimum absence of 10 games and 24 days, making him ineligible to return before January 31st. His current condition will be re-evaluated upon reaching this eligibility date.

Goaltender Igor Shesterkin, the team's number one netminder and an NHL leader in games played this season, suffered an injury early in the first period of Monday's game. He fell awkwardly and was unable to put weight on his left leg, necessitating his placement on injured reserve. This marks another challenge for the Rangers, who have a record of 20-18-6.

Fortunately for the Rangers, veteran goaltender Jonathan Quick has stepped in admirably, stopping 15 shots in relief. Quick, drafted in 2005, is anticipated to handle the primary goaltending duties while Shesterkin recovers. Fox, who previously missed 14 games with an upper-body injury, has recorded 28 points in 30 games this season.
