Rams Guards Dominate PFF Top Guard Rankings

Kevin Dotson and Steve Avila of the Los Angeles Rams have earned significant recognition on Pro Football Focus's 2026 top guards ranking. Dotson secured the fifth spot, with his run-blocking grade ranking third among all guards since the start of the 2023 season. He also demonstrated solid pass protection last season, recording a 66.8 PFF grade.

Avila, a 2023 second-round pick, was ranked thirteenth. He achieved a career-high 75.0 PFF grade in 2025, ranking eleventh among qualified guards, and set a personal best with a 72.3 run-blocking grade, allowing only two sacks throughout the season, including playoffs.

This PFF distinction contrasts with other offseason evaluations; neither guard made the top 10 in an ESPN survey of league personnel. Their performance, however, was highlighted by PFF grades and splits in the Rams' rushing offense when they were on or off the field, particularly after Dotson's Week 16 ankle injury in 2025.

Both Dotson and Avila are entering the final year of their contracts in 2026. This situation poses a crucial offseason decision for the Rams, as their performance and impact on the team's rushing game suggest a strong case for contract extensions for one or both players, though such decisions will likely be deferred until after the 2026 season.
