The Las Vegas Raiders announced a roster move on Monday, signing linebacker Segun Olubi. This signing occurred after the conclusion of the NFL preseason. In conjunction with Olubi's addition, the Raiders have placed wide receiver Dont'e Thornton Jr. on the reserve/injured list.
Thornton Jr. is currently in his second season with the Raiders. He was initially drafted by the team in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft. During his rookie season in 2025, the 6-foot-5, 205-pound receiver made 10 receptions, accumulating 135 receiving yards with an average of 13.5 yards per catch.
Prior to his NFL career, Thornton Jr. played college football at Tennessee from 2023 to 2024. He transferred to the Volunteers after a stint at Oregon. At Tennessee, he appeared in 22 games, starting seven, and recorded 39 receptions for 885 yards and seven touchdowns. His longest reception was an impressive 86 yards.
Before joining the Volunteers, Thornton Jr. played for Oregon from 2021 to 2022, appearing in 25 games. For the Ducks, he had 26 receptions for 541 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He also added six rushing yards on two attempts during his time at Oregon.
