Raiders Rookie QB Mendoza Gets Rainy NFL Debut

Fernando Mendoza, the Raiders' rookie quarterback and first-round pick, saw his first NFL action on Sunday. He entered the game late in the fourth quarter against the Patriots, facing heavy rain and a significant deficit. Mendoza completed 6 of 8 passes for 48 yards, demonstrating poise under pressure and contributing to the team's red zone push, although they ultimately failed to score.

Despite the Raiders' 45-17 loss, coach Klint Kubiak expressed satisfaction with Mendoza's brief performance. Mendoza himself felt he gained valuable experience, even admitting fault for a scramble on fourth down. He remains focused on controlling what he can and improving, with the hope of being ready if called upon again. Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins also offered positive remarks on Mendoza's play.
