The Las Vegas Raiders have promoted Rob Leonard to the position of defensive coordinator. Leonard has been a part of the Raiders' coaching staff for the past three seasons, most recently serving as the run game coordinator and defensive line coach.
During his tenure, Leonard worked closely with star pass rusher Maxx Crosby, who earned Pro Bowl selections in each of those three seasons. Crosby recorded a career-high 14.5 sacks in Leonard's first year with the team. Prior to joining the Raiders, Leonard had coaching stints with the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, and New York Giants. He will remain with the team as a member of new head coach Klint Kubiak's staff. Kubiak's team faces the challenge of improving a team that won only three games in 2025 and ranked 30th in defending third downs.
