The Las Vegas Raiders have officially named Omar Young as their new running backs coach. This appointment underscores the team's strategic focus on strengthening its rushing attack for the upcoming season. Young is set to bring a wealth of experience to the Raiders' coaching staff.
With 17 years of coaching experience, including six seasons in the NFL, Young possesses a deep understanding of offensive schemes. His previous role as an offensive coaching assistant with the New England Patriots in 2024 proved instrumental in boosting their rushing offense.
Under Young's guidance, the Patriots' ground game improved significantly, moving from the 26th-ranked rushing offense to 13th. He also spent time with the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, and Cleveland Browns, along with coaching at the collegiate level, notably at the University of Iowa.
Young's tenure at Iowa saw the team achieve a No. 17 national ranking, with an impressive average of 176.9 rushing yards per game.
