In a further boost for the Rabbitohs, veteran playmaker Cody Walker made a successful return from injury, much to the relief of his coach. Bennett waited until the 31st minute to inject the 35-year-old into the game, joking that Walker's "new position" might be "50 minutes Cody."
Walker, however, is not keen on becoming a Rabbitohs super-sub, admitting he was "looking up at the box after ten minutes, thinking 'when am I getting on?'" The veteran player acknowledged it's been a "pretty tough season" when dealing with injuries and being unable to contribute to the team's performance.
The Rabbitohs now face a short turnaround for Round 25, where they will take on the Dragons next Thursday night at Accor Stadium.
