Rabada's Rib Injury Sidelines South African Ace for Key India Test
15 Nov
Summary
- Kagiso Rabada sustains rib injury before first India Test
- Uncertain if he will be available for second Test next week
- Corbin Bosch named in XI to replace Rabada for first Test

On November 15, 2025, South Africa's preparations for their India tour hit a major setback as their star fast bowler Kagiso Rabada sustained a rib injury during the team's first training session in the country. The injury has ruled Rabada out of the opening Test match at Eden Gardens, which is set to begin on the same day.
The extent of Rabada's injury is still unclear, as no decision has been made on whether he will be available for the second Test, scheduled to start in Guwahati next week. Rabada underwent a scan on the day of the injury, but he still attended the team's training session the following day. However, he did not participate in the optional training on Thursday and had to undergo a fitness test on Friday morning, where he experienced discomfort, leading to his late withdrawal from the first Test.
In Rabada's absence, Corbin Bosch, who has played three Tests prior to this tour, has been named in the starting XI for the opening match against India. Bosch was also part of South Africa's Test squad during their recent tour of Pakistan, though he did not feature in any of the matches. He will now be one of the three seamers in South Africa's lineup, alongside Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder.
