Los Angeles Rams safety Quentin Lake has significantly stepped up for the team's depleted secondary. Though he faced challenges early in the season, Lake's consistent performance has made him indispensable.
Lake's statistics highlight his exceptional play. He is one of only two safeties in the entire NFL with a Pro Football Focus grade exceeding 90. Furthermore, his coverage grade is the league's highest, and he is tied for the most pass deflections with seven.
This resurgence is partly attributed to the addition of Trent McDuffie. Together, they have formed a robust and adaptable partnership. This dynamic allows defensive coordinator Chris Shula to employ a variety of blitzes and disguised coverages, fluidly switching between man and zone defenses.
Defensive coordinator Chris Shula regards Lake as the defense's linchpin. His impactful play indicates a promising future with the Rams franchise.
