Purdue Stays Top Spot as Michigan Soars
1 Dec
Summary
- Purdue maintains its No. 1 ranking in the latest AP Top 25 poll.
- Michigan jumps to No. 3 after a dominant undefeated week.
- Defending champion Florida drops to No. 15 after an upset loss.

Purdue continues its reign at No. 1 in the fourth AP Top 25 poll of the 2025-26 college basketball season. The Boilermakers have held the top position for three consecutive weeks, with only a brief challenge from Houston earlier in the season.
Michigan emerged as a major riser, moving up four spots to No. 3. Their undefeated 3-0 record in the Players Era Festival, including decisive wins over notable opponents, propelled them into the top three. This marks the first time since the 2015-16 season that the Big Ten conference has two teams ranked in the top three.
In contrast, the reigning national champions, Florida, faced a disappointing week. An 84-80 upset loss to TCU, their second of the young season, caused them to fall five places to No. 15. Another SEC team, Alabama, also slipped out of the top ten, dropping from No. 8 to No. 12 following a loss to Gonzaga.
