As of November 8th, 2025, Purdue men's basketball is uncertain about the availability of star forward Trey Kaufman-Renn for their upcoming game against Oakland. Kaufman-Renn sustained a hip injury near the end of Monday's practice and is listed as a game-time decision for the 7 p.m. tipoff.
The former All-Big Ten forward missed Purdue's season opener against Evansville on Tuesday due to the injury. In his absence, redshirt freshman Jack Benter made his first career start and contributed 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists in the Boilermakers' 82-51 victory.
Purdue head coach Matt Painter said Kaufman-Renn would undergo further tests on Wednesday, and there was a chance he could miss the Oakland game, but Painter did not classify the injury as a long-term problem. Kaufman-Renn averaged 20.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game last season, shooting 59.5% from the field.
