Pujara: India Bowlers Disappointed by Day 2 Effort
23 Nov
Summary
- Indian bowlers conceded too many runs, allowing South Africa to score 489.
- Pujara noted that the last four wickets added too many runs for SA.
- Slow pitch pace affected Indian fast bowlers' effectiveness on Day 2.

Cheteshwar Pujara, a former Indian cricketer, believes the Indian bowling unit will be disheartened by their efforts on the second day of the second Test against South Africa. Despite taking six wickets for under 250 runs, the bowlers conceded a significant total of 489.
Pujara observed that the latter half of South Africa's innings saw an excessive number of runs scored, particularly impacting the final score. He suggested that while a total around 350 might have been acceptable on the pitch, exceeding 450 was too high, especially after dismissing the top order.
He further speculated that the reduced pace of the pitch on Day 2 might have contributed to the Indian fast bowlers' diminished effectiveness. Pujara also noted that Indian spinners are unaccustomed to such slow conditions, though he remains hopeful that India can still win the match.
