Prosecutors Decline to Pursue Domestic Violence Case Against Browns Rookie

In a recent development, prosecutors in Florida have opted not to move forward with a case against Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins following his arrest last month on a domestic violence charge. The assistant state attorney announced this decision in a memorandum released on Thursday, August 10, 2025.

The Browns organization has declined to comment on the news, while the NFL spokesperson stated that the league has been monitoring the situation, which remains under review. Judkins, 21, was arrested on July 12, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale. The police report alleged that Judkins struck a woman with a closed fist on July 7, and that bruising was still visible when the woman reported the incident five days later.

However, after reviewing body-worn camera videos, surveillance footage, photos, and communication records, authorities determined that there was "no reasonable likelihood of conviction" due to the lack of independent witnesses and the delay in reporting the incident. The memorandum stated that the July 7 incident occurred after a family trip to Hawaii, where "some family drama" had emerged between Judkins' family and the alleged victim and her friends.

It remains unclear whether this decision will allow Judkins to rejoin the Browns, as the NFL and the team are conducting their own investigations into the matter. Judkins had not yet signed his rookie deal with the Browns when the incident occurred, and it is uncertain how this development will affect the team's running back depth chart.
