Premier League Ends Stonewall Partnership, Launches LGBTQ+ Campaign
7 Aug
Summary
- Premier League ends 8-year partnership with Stonewall
- League to launch its own LGBTQ+ inclusion campaign
- Players to continue taking the knee, but only twice during October

As of August 7th, 2025, the Premier League has made several significant changes to its diversity and inclusion initiatives. The league has ended its eight-year partnership with the LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall and its Rainbow Laces campaign. This decision was made amid the growth of in-house expertise within the league and its clubs, and the Premier League plans to launch its own LGBTQ+ inclusion campaign to coincide with February's LGBTQ+ History Month.
Additionally, Premier League captains have agreed that players will continue taking the knee this season, but only on two occasions during October's Black History Month. This is a further reduction in the number of times the controversial gesture will be performed, as it was previously scaled back to just a few match rounds per season.
The Premier League's move to end its partnership with Stonewall comes amid the charity's advocacy for gender ideology, which was undermined by a recent Supreme Court ruling on the legal definition of a woman under the Equality Act.
