Hear the whistle: Player-ref audio to debut in Premier League

For the first time, live audio from player and referee on-field conversations will be broadcast during Premier League matches. This change is an expansion of the RefCam system, which was permanently adopted last season. Broadcasters like Sky Sports and TNT Sports will now be able to feature a limited amount of this captured audio.

This new feature will allow for the near-instant replay of one or two selected incidents per match round. It's important to note that audio related to video assistant referee (VAR) interventions will not be broadcast, adhering to the laws of the game. The number of televised games featuring RefCam is also set to increase significantly.
