Ange Postecoglou: Forest Job Was My Mistake

Ange Postecoglou has acknowledged his regret concerning his short-lived spell as head coach at Nottingham Forest, stating that accepting the position was a misstep.

He reflected that the timing of the move was inappropriate, occurring too soon after his exit from Tottenham Hotspur. Postecoglou admitted to feeling lost during this period, having not had a break in over two decades and finding himself without his usual busy off-season routine of transfers and preseason planning.

The manager conceded that he should have never accepted the role, taking full ownership of the decision. He indicated that the environment at Forest was not conducive to the changes he intended to implement, and he questioned whether the club genuinely desired his input.

Postecoglou’s tenure at Forest concluded after a 39-day winless streak, marked by a further successive loss against Chelsea. He emphasized that even a few wins would not have sustained the move long-term, highlighting the owner's immediate result-oriented approach, which contrasts with his own philosophy of building through adversity.
