A 12-year-old girl from Bridgnorth, Shropshire, experienced a taste of stardom after winning an international pony racing event in Hong Kong. Harriet, who has been riding since she was three, was selected to compete in January for the Shetland Pony Grand National (SPGN) organization.
Her victory at the Longines Hong Kong International Horse Show on her pony, Slades Dewberry, led to her and fellow young riders being treated like celebrities. They enjoyed the attention, with many attendees requesting autographs and photographs.
The SPGN not only provides a platform for young riders but also supports charitable causes. This year's event benefited the Bob Champion Cancer Trust. Harriet, who is currently 4'9", hopes to continue racing larger ponies in the future, though she may soon outgrow Shetland pony racing due to her height.
