Dustin Poirier expressed immense admiration for his former American Top Team colleague, Yaroslav Amosov, suggesting he is on a championship trajectory in the UFC. Poirier drew a striking parallel between Amosov and Khabib Nurmagomedov, noting that Amosov's ground game, particularly when pinning opponents, is the closest he has encountered to Nurmagomedov's suffocating style.
Jorge Masvidal, also associated with American Top Team, amplified these plaudits. Masvidal characterized Amosov as possessing extraordinary cardio, likening it to having a 'third lung.' He confidently predicted that Amosov would replicate his Bellator success within the UFC's welterweight division.
Amosov is scheduled to compete against Joel Alvarez at UFC 328, a bout generating considerable excitement among MMA aficionados. Poirier further underscored Amosov's resilience and mental fortitude by recounting the account of Amosov retrieving his championship belt from his war-devastated family residence.
Poirier urged fans to place bets on Amosov becoming a UFC welterweight champion, emphasizing that the full extent of the Ukrainian fighter's capabilities has yet to be witnessed by the public.
