Plymouth Midfield Crisis Averted: Key Players Return
17 Apr
Summary
- Brendan Wiredu and Bradley Ibrahim are fit to play.
- Herbie Kane will not play again this season.
- Central midfield has been a troubled area for the team.

Plymouth Argyle's central midfield has received a significant boost with the news that key players Brendan Wiredu and Bradley Ibrahim are available for selection. Their return addresses a critical shortage that had impacted the team's performance.
Previously, Argyle was forced to bring Caleb Roberts back from loan and redeploy Jamie Paterson in midfield due to a lack of options. The situation was further exacerbated by the confirmed season-ending injury to Herbie Kane.
Both Ibrahim, who has been sidelined since February with an ankle injury, and Wiredu, who underwent abdominal surgery a month ago, are now cleared to play. Their availability provides head coach Tom Cleverley with a much stronger pool of players.
Cleverley expressed relief at having more cover for the central midfield position, acknowledging its importance. He highlighted the excellent job Paterson did covering, but emphasized the benefit of having specialists back.
