The Pittsburgh Pirates have completed a trade, sending right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton to the San Diego Padres. In return, the Pirates acquired minor-league right-handed pitcher Andrew Moore. Stratton had been designated for assignment by the Pirates on Saturday, making this a move to clear roster space and acquire a prospect.
Stratton, who pitched for the Pirates in 2023-25, rejoined the organization in June via a trade with the Braves. He made two brief appearances for the Pirates after that trade, allowing two runs in 2.1 innings. Prior to the major league call-up, Stratton had seven scoreless outings with Triple-A Indianapolis.
Andrew Moore, now assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis, was originally a 14th-round draft pick by the Mariners in 2021. This season, the 26-year-old has made 30 relief appearances across Double-A and Triple-A. His record stands at 0-1 with a 3.46 ERA. Opponents have hit just .160 against him, despite 43 walks issued over 39 innings, during which he recorded 62 strikeouts.
