Summary
- Pirates sent catcher Joey Bart to Atlanta for pitcher Hunter Stratton.
- Stratton, acquired by Braves last summer, returns to Pittsburgh.
- Trade helps Pittsburgh manage catcher logjam with Davis and Rodriguez.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have completed a player exchange, sending catcher Joey Bart to the Atlanta Braves. In a reciprocal move, the Pirates acquired right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton. Stratton, who initially joined the Pirates organization in 2017, was previously traded to Atlanta during the previous summer. He has since been assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis by Pittsburgh.
Stratton made 47 appearances for the Pirates between 2023 and 2025. Last season with the Braves, he posted a 2.20 ERA and has made one MLB appearance this current season. The Pirates' decision to trade Bart aims to address a surplus at the catcher position, with Henry Davis and Endy Rodriguez also seeing playing time. In 21 appearances for Pittsburgh this season, Bart recorded a .259 batting average with 6 RBIs and 21 strikeouts.
