Skenes Dominates as Pirates Maul Brewers 14-5

Paul Skenes achieved his second consecutive win on Sunday, leading the Pittsburgh Pirates to a decisive 14-5 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. This win capped off a three-game sweep for the Pirates heading into the All-Star break.

The Pirates established a commanding 4-2 lead before erupting for 10 runs in the fourth inning, a performance that effectively sealed the game. Key offensive contributions in that inning included an RBI single from Henry Davis and a bases-loaded walk that forced in a run.

Skenes delivered a strong performance, allowing only two runs and three hits over 5 1/3 innings, striking out seven batters. He had previously broken a winless streak of nine starts by defeating Atlanta earlier in the week. The Brewers' starting pitcher, Robert Gasser, struggled, giving up seven runs and eight hits in just over three innings.

This series sweep took place without Milwaukee's ace pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, who was scratched from a scheduled start due to arm fatigue. Notably, both Skenes and Misiorowski, despite being named All-Stars, will not participate in the upcoming All-Star showcase.
