Mitchell, Robinson Shine as Mercury's 2017 Playmakers

The 2017 Phoenix Mercury finished their season with an 18-16 record, securing another playoff appearance. While their scoring was strong, the team's exceptional playmaking ability stood out, highlighted by a total of 599 assists.

Leilani Mitchell emerged as the assist leader for the season, tallying 121 assists. She had a notable performance against the Connecticut Sun, dishing out eight assists in a one-point loss. Mitchell's impact as a reserve player, contributing 17 points in that game, proved vital in other matchups.

Danielle Robinson, a new addition to the team in 2017, ranked second with 110 assists. She averaged 6.9 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.9 rebounds, making an immediate impact with nine assists in the Mercury's first game. Diana Taurasi followed with 83 assists, showcasing her veteran leadership.

Stephanie Talbot and Camille Little rounded out the top five assist leaders with 55 and 49 assists, respectively.
