Philly Sports Teams Unveil Plans for Cutting-Edge $1.3B Arena

In November 2025, the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers have unveiled plans for a new state-of-the-art arena to be built within the existing South Philadelphia Sports Complex. This comes after the teams had previously considered a $1.3 billion downtown arena, but those plans were ultimately cancelled.
The new venue, set to replace the current Xfinity Mobile Arena, is expected to be ready by the 2031 season, with an option to accelerate the process by a year. While specific design details have not yet been released, the owners have promised to create "an experience, an environment, a home-court and home-ice advantage that's going to be unlike any other in sports."
The project is being led by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, who own the $4.9 billion 76ers, and Comcast, the owners of the Flyers. They have brought on Turner Construction and AECOM as the construction managers, touting their commitment to delivering "the most technologically advanced and fan-focused sports and entertainment venue in the world."
In addition to the new arena, the teams also intend to transform the surrounding South Philadelphia area in a way that positively impacts the local community. This generational project is seen as a major investment in the city's sports landscape.
