Phillies Ace Nola Returns, But Game Streams Exclusively on Roku
17 Aug
Summary
- Roku airs early Sunday MLB games in 3-year deal
- Phillies' Aaron Nola makes first start since May 14
- Game streams on Roku Channel, not on local TV

As of August 17, 2025, Roku is in the second season of a three-year deal to air early Sunday MLB games. This includes the 11:35 a.m. matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals, which will stream exclusively on the Roku Channel.
Phillies ace Aaron Nola is making his return to the mound after being sidelined since May 14 with a sprained ankle and fractured rib cage. Nola, who has a 1-7 record and 6.16 ERA this season, last pitched for the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate on Tuesday, striking out 11 batters.
The Roku Channel, a free ad-supported streaming platform, took over the early Sunday "Leadoff" package that previously aired on Peacock, NBC's subscription service. This package will run through the 2026 season, as part of a deal reportedly worth just $10 million per year - significantly less than the $550 million ESPN currently pays the league for Sunday Night Baseball.

With the Roku game not airing on NBC Sports Philadelphia or any other local TV channel, fans will see a familiar face in the booth. Phillies TV voice Tom McCarthy will call the action, joined by former Phillies infielder Kevin Frandsen and reporter Dan Kolko.
