Cameron Percy has established a commanding three-stroke lead at the ISPS HANDA Senior Open, navigating the demanding Gleneagles King's Course with a skillful 2-under-par 68 in the second round. This exceptional performance, matching the lowest score of the day, occurred amidst challenging conditions with wind gusts reaching 32 mph, causing the scoring average to climb significantly. Percy's consistent play has him at 9-under-par heading into the weekend.

Percy's 68 was remarkable given the difficult day, where not a single player completed a bogey-free round. He overcame early bogeys on the fifth and eighth holes with crucial birdies on the ninth, thirteenth, and fourteenth. This marks Percy's third 36-hole lead or co-lead in a senior major, as he seeks his maiden PGA Tour Champions title in his 52nd career start and aims to end a winless drought of over 4,000 days.

Jerry Kelly remains Percy's closest competitor, matching his 68 to sit in second place at 6-under-par. Kelly, a seasoned player with 13 PGA Tour Champions victories, expressed acceptance of the course's unpredictable nature. Also in contention are Markus Brier, Ernie Els, and Henrik Stenson, all tied for third at 4-under-par, trailing Percy by five strokes.

Els, a two-time Open champion, and Stenson, a former Open champion, bring significant major championship experience. Brier is having his best career showing at this level. The demanding King's Course at Gleneagles has proven a stern test, with the cut falling at 5-over-par, advancing 79 players, including defending champion Padraig Harrington and Charles Schwab Cup leader Stewart Cink.
