Freshman CB Zayas Surges for Penn State Defense

True freshman cornerback Josiah Zayas has rapidly emerged as a significant contributor to the Penn State defense. Initially not projected as a primary player, Zayas has made impactful plays in consecutive weeks, including a pick-six against Wisconsin and a fumble recovery against Northwestern. His current season statistics include 13 tackles and one interception through six games, highlighting his immediate importance to the team.

As a former three-star recruit from a smaller New Jersey high school, Zayas's development into a key player for a prominent college football program is remarkable. He is still developing, with considerable untapped potential. Playing alongside experienced cornerback Audavion Collins offers him valuable learning opportunities within the program's resources in State College, positioning him to become a future leader on defense.
