PEC Zwolle secured a dominant 4-1 victory over rivals Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday afternoon. The match marked the first outing for interim management duo Dennis van der Ree and Maikel van der Werff following the recent dismissal of coach Henry van der Vegt. Despite a strong start from the home side, Go Ahead Eagles took an unexpected lead through Stefán Ingi Sigurdarson after a defensive error.
However, PEC Zwolle responded strongly, with Sydney van Hooijdonk equalizing from just outside the penalty area. Thijs Oosting then stole the show, scoring twice against his father's team. His first strike hit the underside of the crossbar before going in, and his second found the top corner. Koen Kostons added a fourth goal in the closing stages, sealing a comprehensive win.
The victory propels PEC Zwolle to fifteenth place in the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie table. Go Ahead Eagles, meanwhile, remain in ninth position following this derby defeat. The performance under the interim coaches showcased a significant improvement from Zwolle's previous outing.
