Summary
- Paulsboro and West Deptford are top contenders in the Patriot Division
- Paulsboro returns 8 starters on offense and 7 on defense
- West Deptford welcomes back 10 offensive and 8 defensive starters

As the 2025 high school football season approaches, the West Jersey Football League Patriot Division is shaping up to be a competitive race, with Paulsboro and West Deptford emerging as two of the top contenders.
Last year, Paulsboro (8-3, 5-1) finished second in the division, narrowly losing to unbeaten champion Camden Catholic in overtime. The Red Raiders advanced to the South Jersey Group 1 semifinals before falling to Schalick. Now, coach Kevin Harvey has a seasoned team with explosive skill position players, as Paulsboro returns eight starters on offense and seven on defense.
West Deptford (5-5, 4-2) was also in the mix last season, but suffered its two losses to Camden Catholic and Paulsboro. The Eagles welcome back 10 starters on offense and eight on defense, led by a strong junior class and veteran senior quarterback Brady Cobb, who threw for 742 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2024.
While Camden Catholic could still find its way to contention, the Irish lost many key players from last year's 9-2, 6-0 team. Pennsville (6-5, 3-3) and Collingswood (3-7, 1-5) also have veteran returning teams, while Overbrook (3-6-1, 1-5) and Audubon (3-7, 1-5) will field experienced squads as well.
The late-season matchup between Paulsboro and West Deptford on October 18th could prove pivotal in determining the division champion, as both teams are among the favorites in what could be an expanded race for the title.
