Patriots Undecided on Starting Left Guard Ahead of Season
26 Aug
Summary
- Patriots drafted 3 offensive linemen in 2025 NFL draft
- Jared Wilson initially drafted as center, now competing for left guard
- Ben Brown also impressing at left guard, creating competition

As the 2025 NFL season approaches, the New England Patriots have been making significant changes to their offensive line. In this year's draft, the team selected three players to bolster the unit, including Will Campbell in the first round, Jared Wilson in the third round, and Marcus Bryant in the seventh round.
While Wilson was initially brought in as a center out of Georgia, the Patriots have since moved him over to left guard, where he is now competing for the starting job. However, the team has also had Ben Brown slot in at that position, leading to questions about whether the coaching staff has determined their official starting offensive line.
"We're not making anything official," head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters on Monday. "It'll be the five guys out there with the first group today, and then - but as far as having a parade or anything about it, we're just not going to do that right now."

The right side of the Patriots' offensive line appears to be set, with Morgan Moses starting at right tackle and Mike Onwenu at right guard. Garrett Bradbury also seems to have the center spot locked in, while Will Campbell is expected to be the team's starting left tackle.
With just under two weeks until the season opener against the Raiders, Wilson and Brown will have limited time to prove they deserve the starting left guard position. The Patriots are keeping their cards close to their chest, but the competition for that final spot on the offensive line is sure to be an intriguing storyline to follow as the regular season approaches.
