Panthers Rookie WR Faces Season-Ending Knee Surgery

Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Chris Brazzell is set to undergo season-ending surgery on his left knee, according to a league source. Brazzell sustained a moderate LCL tear during a recent practice drill and came down awkwardly after getting tangled with a defensive back.

The team initially considered a non-surgical recovery, which would have kept Brazzell sidelined for approximately two months. However, after obtaining a second medical opinion, both the team and Brazzell's representatives agreed that surgery offered the best path for his long-term knee health.

This unfortunate development means Brazzell, a third-round pick from Tennessee, will miss his entire rookie season. His absence affects the projected depth chart, particularly for the third receiver position behind Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker.

Brazzell's injury is the second season-ending setback for the Panthers since training camp began. Outside linebacker Nic Scourton previously tore his ACL during the team's very first practice session. With Brazzell out, veteran David Moore and newcomer John Metchie will compete for the WR3 role alongside Xavier Legette.
