3 Feb
Summary
- Panthers face offensive line need after Ekwonu's injury.
- Mock draft predicts Penn State guard Olaivavega Ioane at 19th pick.
- Ioane is called the best interior lineman with Pro Bowl talent.
The Carolina Panthers are facing a critical need on their offensive line due to an injury to starting left tackle Ikem Ekwonu, who suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in January. This setback puts his availability for the upcoming 2026 season in doubt.
ESPN's latest two-round mock draft for 2026 predicts the Panthers will select Penn State guard Olaivavega Ioane with the 19th overall pick. Ioane is highly regarded as the top interior lineman in the class, known for his power in the run game and pass protection skills.
This potential selection addresses concerns about the interior line, as Austin Corbett and Brady Christensen are set to become free agents in March. Additionally, Pro Bowl right guard Robert Hunt missed significant time in the previous season due to injury, underscoring the need for depth and talent.
