Pant, who was batting for India A, was struck multiple times by South African pacer Tshepo Moreki, taking blows to his helmet, elbow, and body. The left-hander was batting on 17 off 22 balls when the incident occurred during India A's second innings. Despite starting confidently, Pant struggled to continue after the repeated hits, eventually retiring as a precautionary measure.
The 25-year-old had been making his return to competitive cricket after recovering from a fractured toe sustained in July. He had earlier impressed with a fluent 90 in the opening four-day match of the series, but this latest setback will be a concern for the Indian team ahead of the highly anticipated Test series against South Africa, which begins on November 14 in Kolkata.
