14 Mar
Summary
- Selectors unaware of Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman's injuries during World Cup.
- PCB to investigate player fitness communication and injury handling.
- Younger squad selected for Bangladesh series to provide more options.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is launching an inquiry into the fitness of key players Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman following their undisclosed injuries during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Selectors expressed concern, stating they were unaware of the severity of the players' conditions until after the tournament concluded.
Selector Aaqib Javed highlighted that both head coaches and physios should provide continuous updates on player health. The investigation aims to clarify why these injuries were not communicated earlier. Babar Azam's absence from the Bangladesh ODI series and the National T20 Cup is also attributed to his ongoing injury.
Furthermore, Javed revealed that a strategic decision was made before the World Cup to field a younger squad for the Bangladesh series. This approach is intended to develop emerging talent and expand the pool of available players for future selections, similar to previous strategies employed.
