Summary
- Five pitchers were reassigned to minor league camp on March 4, 2026.
- Omar Cruz is the only reassigned pitcher with MLB experience.
- Justin Yeager had a 0.84 ERA in Triple-A last year but struggled this spring.

The San Diego Padres initiated their spring training roster reduction on March 4, 2026, reassigning five pitchers to their minor league camp following a Cactus League game. This initial wave of cuts includes left-handed pitchers Omar Cruz, Jagger Haynes, and Ryan Och, alongside right-handed pitchers Manuel Castro and Justin Yeager.
Omar Cruz, at 27, is the sole pitcher among the reassigned group with Major League experience, having debuted with the Padres last season. While he is considered a candidate for a return to MLB this season, he will begin in the minor leagues. Jagger Haynes, 23, spent the entirety of the 2025 season in Double-A, and Ryan Och, 27, also pitched in Double-A last year.
Manuel Castro, 23, reached Triple-A in the 2025 season and is seen as a potential MLB debutant this year. Justin Yeager, 28, joined the Padres on a minor league deal in early February. Despite an impressive 0.84 ERA in Triple-A last season, Yeager struggled significantly during spring training, posting an 18.00 ERA. His performance in the minor leagues will be crucial for any potential MLB debut this season. The Padres now have 67 players remaining in their Major League camp with Opening Day less than three weeks away.
