Packers' Left Tackle Battle Intensifies Ahead of Season

As the Green Bay Packers prepare for the upcoming 2025 NFL season, the team's starting left tackle spot remains an open competition. According to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, it is "100% a competition" between the various candidates vying for the role.

Veteran Rasheed Walker has the most experience at left tackle, but a groin injury has kept him from playing in the preseason and limited his participation in training camp. Meanwhile, 2024 first-round draft pick Jordan Morgan has made a strong impression after shifting from guard to tackle, with offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich praising his performance against a tough opponent in the preseason.

Rookie tackle Anthony Belton has also shown both promise and room for improvement. After a penalty-filled first half in the Packers' preseason game against the Colts, Belton responded with a clean second half, including a key block on a touchdown run. Offensive line coach Luke Butkus was encouraged by Belton's ability to bounce back, saying the rookie "didn't go down in the dumps" and was eager to get back on the field.

Veteran center Elgton Jenkins has also been a stabilizing presence for the Packers' offensive line, taking charge of the calls and working to build chemistry with quarterback Jordan Love. Stenavich praised Jenkins' assertiveness and knowledge, noting that his leadership has been crucial as the team continues to evaluate different lineup combinations.
