Packers Injured Stars Poised for Week 1 Comeback
23 Aug
Summary
- 19 Packers players inactive for preseason finale
- Jordan Love recovering from thumb surgery, expects to play Week 1
- Several injured players expected to return for season opener

As of August 24th, 2025, the Green Bay Packers are facing a significant number of injuries heading into the regular season. For their preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks, a total of 19 players were inactive, including quarterback Jordan Love, center Elgton Jenkins, and wide receivers Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, and Savion Williams.
Despite these absences, Love is confident that the Packers will have most of their injured players back in time for the season opener against the Detroit Lions in two weeks. Love himself is recovering from a left thumb injury that required surgery, causing him to miss the final two preseason games. However, he was limited in practice last week and expects to be fully healthy for Week 1.
"Week 1, we're gonna be good," Love told the Packers TV Network. "We're gonna be rolling." While he admitted that missing training camp time could affect the team's early-season chemistry, Love is optimistic about the Packers' ability to bounce back from the injuries.

The Packers will need to trim their roster from 90 to 53 players by Tuesday, and there are some intriguing battles at wide receiver and quarterback. Nonetheless, the team's focus is on getting their key players healthy and ready to face their NFC North rival in the season opener.
