A significant piece of Major League Baseball history is up for auction: the second base used during Shohei Ohtani's record-setting performance on September 19, 2024. Ohtani achieved the unprecedented 50 home run and 50 stolen base milestone against the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park.
The authenticated base was in play during Ohtani's extraordinary game where he hit three home runs, drove in 10 runs for a Dodgers record, and scored four times. This artifact is directly linked to his historic feat, marking him as the first player to reach this dual-century mark in a single season.
Lelands, the auction firm, confirmed the base's authenticity, noting it was used from the fourth to the ninth inning of that game. The base also has an MLB hologram sticker and has been photo-matched by Davious. Previously, this base served as third base in eight other Marlins games in September 2024.
Bidding for this unique memorabilia began at $2,500 and is scheduled to close on August 15, as part of the Lelands 2026 Summer Classic Auction. This auction also features other notable items like a ticket stub from Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game and Lou Gehrig's 1933 contract.
