Summary
- Alex Ovechkin plays his final NHL game in Nashville.
- Barry Trotz, 2018 Stanley Cup coach, to be honored.
- Capitals won 5-2 last night and aim for road momentum.
The Washington Capitals are set to face the Nashville Predators on Thursday night at Bridgestone Arena. This matchup marks a significant milestone as it is Alex Ovechkin's final appearance in Music City, a key stop on his farewell tour concluding his 22-year NHL career.
The occasion is further amplified by the induction of former Capitals head coach Barry Trotz into the Predators' Golden Hall. Trotz was instrumental in leading Washington to its first Stanley Cup championship in 2018.
The Capitals enter this game on the second night of a back-to-back, coming off a decisive 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. This win concluded their five-game homestand with a strong 4-1 record. They now aim to carry this winning momentum into Nashville, where the Predators have been consistent, earning points in their previous three contests.
