18 Jul
Summary
- Orioles face the Astros in a three-game series starting tonight.
- Dean Kremer returns to the mound for the Orioles after injury.
- Both teams are dealing with significant pitching staff injuries.
The Baltimore Orioles are heading to Houston for a three-game series against the Astros, commencing tonight. The Orioles enter the series with a depleted bullpen, missing late-inning relievers Ryan Helsley and Keegan Akin. Additionally, key hitter Blaze Alexander is sidelined with a fractured hand.
Making his return for the Orioles is right-handed pitcher Dean Kremer. Kremer, who missed the start of the season due to injury, will make his second start of the year. He's shown promise with a new splitter, against which opponents are batting just .176.
He is set to face Astros' Peter Lambert. Lambert, a veteran pitcher, has found success this season limiting opposing batters. Despite a history of a high ERA, he's impressed with a .204 opposing average. This outing marks a matchup of teams navigating significant player absences.
