Ole Miss Sues Ex-Players Over LSU Transfer

Ole Miss has initiated legal action against former football players Princewill Umanmielen and Devin Harper, alleging breach of contract after their transfer to LSU. The university stated that both athletes signed revenue sharing agreements which included a provision requiring them to compensate Ole Miss with a predetermined amount if they departed before fulfilling their commitment.

Ole Miss indicated that it attempted to resolve this issue amicably prior to filing the lawsuit on July 27, 2026. According to the university, Umanmielen and Harper missed deadlines to pay the required buyout money after transferring. Umanmielen, a senior edge rusher, had previously compiled significant stats for Ole Miss. Harper, a sophomore offensive lineman, played in six games as a reserve.

This legal action is part of a broader narrative of tension between Ole Miss and LSU, especially following coach Lane Kiffin's departure from Ole Miss to LSU after the 2025 season. Other instances of college teams suing former athletes over buyout money, such as Georgia's case against Damon Wilson, highlight a growing trend in college athletics.
