The Old Forge girls cross country team achieved a historic milestone, clinching their first district title at the District 2 Cross Country Championships. This victory also secures their inaugural appearance at the state championships. Elena Bialkowski and Brynn Negvesky were key finishers for Old Forge, contributing to their team's success. This season's achievement surpasses last year's performance, where only two individual runners from Old Forge qualified for states. Now, the entire team will compete together at the state meet on November 7th at Big Spring High School in Newville.
Several other teams and individuals also celebrated success at the championships. Scranton Prep freshman Vella Byrne won the Class 2A girls individual title, while Abington Heights girls secured their fifth consecutive Class 3A team title. In boys' races, Jacob Borrelli led Mid Valley to their third straight Class 2A team title, and West Scranton's Seamus Wallace repeated as Class 3A individual champion.
