The financial reality will shift dramatically by July 2027, as Wallace, Mitchell, and McCain become extension eligible. Superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's supermax contract will commence at $60.6 million, alongside existing rookie max deals for Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren.

Oklahoma City is expected to exceed the NBA's second apron starting in the 2027 offseason. However, the team has consistently signaled comfort with this financial commitment, viewing the second apron not as a restriction but as a consequence of building a championship-caliber team.

With the front office, coaching staff, players, and fan base having fulfilled their roles, the onus is now on ownership to financially back the roster. This responsibility is seen as a privilege, earned through years of prudent management and on-court success.
