The Edmonton Oilers secured a decisive 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night, claiming a measure of revenge for their playoff exit last spring. However, the Oilers unleashed a relentless offensive surge in the second period, scoring five unanswered goals.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were the driving forces behind Edmonton's comeback, orchestrating the offense with exceptional playmaking. McDavid contributed a goal and two assists, while Draisaitl recorded four assists. Evan Bouchard also netted two goals for the Oilers, bringing his season total to six. Ducks goaltender Lukáš Dostál was replaced after allowing 12 of 17 shots.
Nikita Klepov, the 15th overall pick in the June draft, made his professional debut for the Ducks, becoming the youngest player in franchise history at 18 years and 102 days. With this loss, the Ducks, along with the Philadelphia Flyers and the Los Angeles Kings, remain winless. The Ducks' next game is against the Calgary Flames.
