NZ Cricket Hit by Double Injury Blow Before India ODIs
3 Nov
Summary
- Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra are out with hamstring and shoulder injuries.
- Tim Seifert, Henry Nicholls, and Dean Foxcroft called up to the squad.
- Matt Henry's availability is subject to assessment after a quadricep tear.
New Zealand's cricket team has suffered a significant blow with the unavailability of Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra for the upcoming five-match ODI series against India. Both players are still undergoing rehabilitation for their respective injuries, which had previously kept them out of the T20I leg of the tour.
Chapman's left hamstring injury, sustained during the European T20 Premier League, requires an additional two weeks of recovery. Ravindra dislocated his right shoulder during a promotional event, and medical staff are prioritizing his full recovery, especially with a Test series later this month.
In response to these absences, wicketkeeper batter Tim Seifert has been brought into the squad for the first three ODIs. Left-handed batter Henry Nicholls and all-rounder Dean Foxcroft have also been summoned. Pacer Matt Fisher joins for the initial three matches, while Matt Henry's readiness will be evaluated following a low-grade quadricep tear.
