NRL Star Solomona Faataape Joins Catalans Dragons in Super League Move

In a move that marks the end of his NRL stint with the Wests Tigers, 24-year-old center Solomona Faataape has confirmed he will join the Catalans Dragons on a two-year deal. Faataape, who made 19 first-grade appearances for the Tigers since signing in 2023, had recently fallen out of favor, with Taylan May and debutant-in-waiting Heamasi Makasini preferred in the backline.

Faataape's decision to leave the NRL and join the Super League fulfills what he describes as a long-held ambition. "Playing in the Super League has always been a dream of mine," he said. "I'm excited to move over and can't wait to dig in and work hard with the boys. I'm not here for a holiday, I want to bring success to this great club!"

The former Brisbane Tigers junior will join a fresh wave of talent at the French outfit, alongside Canterbury Bulldogs halfback Toby Sexton and Penrith Panthers youngster Zac Lipowicz. Catalans coach Joel Tomkins welcomed the signing, backing Faataape to make an impact in Europe. "Solomona joins us with some NRL experience and a clear focus on developing his game and helping the Dragons compete at the top level," Tomkins said. "His best years are still in front of him, and we are excited to see what he can do in Super League."
