Notre Dame vs. Miami: Game of the Season!
7 Nov
Summary
- CJ Carr may exploit Miami's weak pass defense.
- Miami's offense faces challenge without star receiver.
- Notre Dame boasts sons of NFL legends on its roster.
The highly anticipated contest between #11 Notre Dame and #1 Miami is being hailed as a potential game of the season and a preview of future playoff matchups.
Notre Dame holds an 18-9-1 lead in the all-time series, though Miami won last year's opener 27-24. This season, Notre Dame's passing game, led by quarterback CJ Carr, could exploit Miami's defense, which ranks low nationally in yards allowed per game.
Conversely, Miami's offense, averaging around 322 passing yards per game, will test Notre Dame's pass defense. The Hurricanes face a significant setback with star receiver Malachi Toney out due to an ankle injury requiring surgery. Toney accounts for a substantial portion of Miami's receiving statistics.
Without Toney, Miami is expected to rely more on its running backs, Mark Fletcher, Jr. and Javian Mallory. Notre Dame's roster includes three wide receivers with famous Pittsburgh ties: Jerome Bettis Jr., Devin Fitzgerald (son of Larry Fitzgerald), and Elijah Burress (son of Plaxico Burress). The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. in South Bend.
