Nitish Kumar Reddy is determined to cement his place as a pace-bowling all-rounder, with an eye on India's 2027 ODI World Cup squad. His recent performance in the second T20I against New Zealand showcased his potential, contributing significantly with both bat and ball in India's four-wicket win. Reddy smashed an unbeaten 26 off just 13 deliveries to steer India to victory after a middle-order collapse.
Earlier, he took a vital wicket, finishing with figures of 1/31. This performance highlights his value as an all-rounder, potentially offering India another option alongside Hardik Pandya. Reddy stressed the importance of accumulating international experience to prepare for future challenges, noting that bowling in defensive situations has aided his development.
His partnership with Tilak Varma, who scored an unbeaten 51, was pivotal in chasing down the target of 181. Reddy attributed the team's resilience to head coach Gautam Gambhir's philosophy of fostering belief and confidence, irrespective of the match situation. Gambhir's guidance encourages players to trust their instincts and perform without added pressure.
