Dzepina Dominates FIBA U20, Earns All-Star Nod

Washington Huskies forward Nikola Dzepina has earned a spot on the FIBA U20 Eurobasket All-Star Five. The sophomore led his Serbian team throughout the tournament, showcasing strong offensive skills and impactful defensive plays. Dzepina averaged 14.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2 blocks per game. His performance included a notable 12-point, 5-rebound, 4-assist, and 5-block outing in the semifinal win against France. His strong showing at the FIBA U20 Eurobasket is expected to translate to a more prominent role in his upcoming second season with the Washington Huskies. The coaching staff anticipates he will build upon this success, leveraging his complete offseason to integrate into the team's system and become a key contributor.

Dzepina's offensive capabilities, including his comfort shooting from three-point range, present a promising skillset. With the departure of a key player, Dzepina is poised to step into a larger role, significantly differing from his freshman year averages of 2.4 points and 1.2 rebounds. The Huskies are also competing with other Big Ten programs for another All-Star Five member, Slovenian guard Urban Kroflič.
