He is not seeking an easy path back, stating his intention to pursue a UFC title fight, acknowledging that this will require earning his opportunity. Diaz indicated that both the middleweight (185 lbs) and welterweight (170 lbs) divisions are possibilities for his return, though he expressed a preference for welterweight.

Diaz expressed confidence in his ability to contend with top fighters, even suggesting he could defeat current champions. He noted that matchups and strategy are key, believing he could find success with the right approach. His last professional fight was in 2021, a bout he won against Robbie Lawler.
